I purchased a James Dean box set & have had a Jimmy-fest watching a movie a night this week. I was a bit worried I would be disappointed as there is a lot of hype around him but i was amazed. He really was such a skilful actor. Which is your favourite of the 3 films he starred in? Mine is
 
In my 20s i devoured everything to do with Jimmy Dean, biographies, films of course, journalism. I had a probably unhealthy obsession with him that bordered on necrophilia! He was an intensely charming and gifted actor and he so completely described the angst of being young and alienated and the film makers he worked with were unique. I learnt a lot about New York theatre and TV in the 50s from reading biographies that described his time there. His work in Hollywood is mainly what survives and I can still watch Rebel Without a Cause and be amazed and touched.
 
It's interesting to posit how James Dean's career would have panned out had he lived.

Would he have ended up a fat recluse like Brando only interested in a pay cheque or would he have amassed an eclectic body of work like Johnny Depp.
 
When me and my sister had left college and before starting jobs we had some late nights watching East of Eden (also watching Twin Peaks at the time) great film!
