Image Metrics is a British CGI company (also based in LA) and it uses a new motion capture system to create 100 percent realistic CGI facial movement. James Cameron's sci-fi film Avatar uses this ground breaking new technology:

Quite possibly the greatest ever advance in CGI. CGI has taken another leap forward. No more wooden looking CGI people. Forget Beowulf, that's history. :) Avatar is released in December.

It looks "not quite right" but crikey it's very good. Let's hope there is a plot/story to distract us from picking flies out of the CGI.

Good as you can never ever replace having a real actor there, doesn't matter how life like it gets it'll never be the same as having a real live person there with a physical presence.

I cannot wait for Avatar! I've been following it for years!

The humans will be played by actors such as Sigourney Weaver, and other actors will be using the technology above to portray aliens. The CGI will only be used on the aliens so we won't be nit picking at human faces.
