James Bond Ultimate Dvd's Are Here

I'm holding off just now till near christmas just in case they do the Buy 1 Get One Free on Bond dvd's again. They probably wont but you never know.

There are only certain Bond movies that i plan to buy.

If you read the thread properly you will see your first quote concerns the UE,while the second concerns the earlier SE.
If you read the posts to which I was replying you will see that I was referring to the original SE of TND which is cut and has audio cuts too, unlike the new UE that the poster was thinking of buying which is uncut.

All the extras that were present on the R2 SE dvd's are included on the new UE.
Definitely on all the Connery/Moore ones.
I believe only Die Another Day is missing some extras from the previous release.

There were 7 007 dvd's on R1 before the SE releases of 1999/2000 and these had very limited extras, virtually nothing to speak of and none of them have appeared since.
The only one I would like to have been included was on The Spy Who Loved Me.
During production of the film, the Open University was given access to film the making of the movie.
The result was a series of OU programmes that ran to several hours, were shown a few times but disappeared from British tv in the 80's.
The first R1 release had a brief 5 or 6 minute clip from this programme buts its not been seen since then

Does anyone know when Casino Royale comes out on DVD if the spine will fit in with the 007 gun picture that was on the special editions. I have only see the new versions in the case and it doesn't look as if there is anything like that on them. Also in this new case, is there room for Casino Royale when it comes out on DVD?
Thanks

not sure when casino royale is coming out, but if you have Die Another Day there are two covers for the film on the DVD I have one for Special Editions and one to plend in to the 007 gun down the spine, they could do something similar with Casino Royale.

I've got the same set as lucky74 I believe, when you stand them upright in the correct order you can read '007' along the spines. I might trade up to the uncut takes of LTK,TND and Goldeneye but how do the others compare? What about OHMSS for example?

If you only have the previous releases then you are missing out.
The improvement in picture quality, especially on the Connery movies is breathtaking.
The first 3 were previously very dissapointing, but the new editions are flawless and make them look like they were made last week.
On top of that the 007 films were made for surround sound and compared to mono as on many of the Connery's the new ones are superb.
Many of the movies have significant new extras aswell as all the extras from the previous releases.
And of course,if your previous releases are R2,then TND and Goldeneye are both cut.
This new box set is the dvd event of the year.
The 007 case supplied is high quality and makes the previous tin look even more tacky than it really was.
OHMSS is FULLY UNCUT with all of the missing pieces put back in place.
The restorations were done from the original camera negatives and are spotless and are the peak of what digital restoration is currently capable of,having been done by the company that restores the Disney classics

Does anyone know if the Car chases DVD that Top Gear magazine gave away uses footage from the remastered discs? I got this and didn't notice any difference, so I'm guessing it uses the old releases (or my viewing equipment is rubbish).

I think there is a release date already of the end of March next year, probably near Easter. I can imagine they will market the advertising at the year as it will be 2007! I can imagine the Casino Royale logo with a 2 at the top of 007!

purchased Goldeneye ultimate edition yesterday and played it on my other halfs cheapo goodmans dvd player. The picture was fantastic although i had issues with the sound as it seemed somewhat quiet when characters were speaking, but really loud when music or sound effects kicked in. Is this because of the cheap and nasty dvd player? Saying that there was a scene where you could hear seagulls and it sounded fairly realistic, i thought it was coming from outside!

I never thought to look on the other side doh! The cover i was using was the one that blended in with the gun. Hope they do the same again

well i started to get the special editions but only have two so far.. now i have to start my collection from scratch again

as well as then getting the HD special ultimate limited edition one :D

Can the people who have Thunderball tell me what aspect ratio theres is. Mine is 2.35:1 diffirent from the first 3 what i have got. is there two versions or is all the Thunderballs like that in ratio. I just find it odd then when i got round to watching this film its ratio is changed from the first three.

another thing is that the 'Ultimate' DVRAB dont have the original mono sound track, which has attracted some unfriendly comments on a different board

I think ill wait for the HD DVD release - when wver that may be!

And when they do director cuts of the films, again whenever that might be!

There is one DVD box set that I am waiting for and thats 24 season 5!
