James Bond on Blu-Ray

All upscaling really does is to smooth out the pixelation that would otherwise be present by expanding an SD picture onto a HD display.

Anyone who has photoshop (or similar) can simulate the difference.

1. Get a picture that is 1980x1080 pixels - this is your HD image
2. Reduce its size to 720x576 - this is your SD image
3. Expand the SD image back up to 1980x1080 - this is your upscaled SD image

If you view the HD image and SD upscaled image in "actual pixels" through photoshop - you should be able to clearly see a difference.
