We are exactly a week away from the release of the latest James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace. In honor of the event let's look back at a part of the franchise the producers would rather forget.

James Bond, Jr. was just one of the many 'kiddiefication' shows of the 90's which re-imagined popular fictional characters as kids, babies or next-gen heir apparents thereof.

I never sat through an episode of this show, but I remember the cheesy theme song and seeing some of the merchandise in toy stores.

I look at it more as a missed opportunity. They should have just done a James Bond cartoon. It would have worked better and perhaps have been more successful.

Ha! Finally! I've had that "Ninja Gear" figure for what seems like forever and had always wondered what toyline it was part of. I never saw the cartoon, so I didn't remember the figure being James Bond Jr.

I always thought the whole "nephew"; thing was a cop-out. Given his lifestyle, it's a wonder James Bond didn't have a boatload of illegitimate "Juniors"; in all corners of the world.

I was more annoyed by the show's insistence on bringing a lot of dead Bond villains back to life. Goldfinger and Oddjob were featured prominently. They should have just gone with original villains.

I only caught some episodes during a summer vacation in 92. What I really remembered was the theme song (pure awesome) and IQ (don't know why he was the one I remembered most). The nephew thing was always pretty funny to me, even as an 8 year old.

I was more anxious to see Video Power and The Power Team, which would show right after it on Channel 9 in NY, if I remember correctly. I miss those early morning syndicated cartoons.

I know what you mean, Rick. WWOR had some pretty good cartoons back then. (Beverly Hills Teens, Mighty Max, Video Power, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Teknoman/Tekkaman, etc.)

But it could not compare to what WPIX had throughout the 80's and 90's though. That was before the dreaded UPN and WB came around!
