Jailbreaking / Unlocking Iphone 3Gs in Emergency Mode.

Hi all,

You people have this great website and it has such a big information heap.

I am a kinda person who doesn't even know what jailbreaking etc. is and is stuck with an iphone 3Gs in emergency mode. I dont even know what model it is ... like 3.1.2 or etc.

I dont know about any tools out there.

with all that hopelessness, I do want to unlock my phone and I really do want to know how to do that. I have been going through these forums and couldn't get hold of where to start. My friends say that i should give it to someone who can do that but even though I could, they just fleece by asking too much money ...

I will be very very thankful to you, if you can tell me the first step or the steps that I have to follow or the things which i need to use my phone ... i will be very grateful to your help ... the phone is unactivated; stuck in emergency mode. The iPhone belongs to another country, so I can't get a hold of the sim which could activate it. Actually when my brother gave it to me, it was working but while I was trying to unlock it, i updated it

I am sure this has been asked before and I saw some of them but the information there is so technical that I feel astrayed.

Well for now you cant restore your iPhone 3GS to 3.1.3 as iTunes closed out those firmwares. You must now restore to 4.0 or 4.0.1 which at this time for 3GS is not unlockable or jailbreakable. You can however use it as an iPod
 
if you updated your phone now it hase vertion 4 or 4.0.1 depond te date of your update, now you have to jailbreak and unlock it but at this moment no jailbreak for iphone 3gs v4 or 4.0.1 so you must wait until the jailbreak will be available .

i updated it in around May start so I am not sure which version does it have.

So i have no luck whatsoever

I cant even use it as an iPaod because it is in the emergency mode .

How can I do that?

if you update it in may your phone is 3.1.3 you can jailbreak it by spirit then unlock it
with cyda by repo666.ultrasn0w.com ,but at the first you must activate it with original
card
 
Ok if u had updated it in may most likely ur on 3.1.3 but as was stated before u cant go back to old firmware 3.1.3 so just do normal update with iTunes and activate with original SIM card for the phone and u will be fine.
 
Before u perform the update try and activate the phone with original SIM card in it first.
 
but I am not in the same country and I dont have that sim card. My brother has it.

The iphone is from UK but I am in France at this moment.

Can I update it here in France without the sim?

Or may be If I ask the sim, can I update it here in France with the sim?

i just used f0recast to see the details of my iphone.

They are:-

3.1.3 with baseband 05.12.01

Bootloader : 6.4
Model: MC132

It says it is Jailbreakable only if SHSH is on file. what is SHSH?

It says it is Unlockable

Untethered; depends if it is refurbished? what does that mean?

YOU HAVE 2 SOTUTIONS TO ACTIVATE YOUR IPHONE

OR YOU MUST MAKE ACTIVATING CARD WITH SILVER CARD

Since you`ve done the update, you don`t have the old bootrom and SHSH from 3.1.2 in order to downgrade ur iPhone. The best thing you can do is to get http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/f621/onesim-sim-card-offers-you-infinite-possibilities-1019726/ in case you can`t get the original carrier sim card, in order to activate the iPhone and until there is a Jailbreak solution (which is going to be very soon, check from time to time) you can still use it as an iPod and wireless to get apps from Apple Store and other features that you might need. But until then you can`t unlock it, because you need to Jailbreak it first. So you`ll be stuck with 4.0 on it, but still usable.
 
He said it`s an iPhone, but he`d like to at least use the iPod feature of it, to listen to music. Until there will be a jailbreak solution out and afterwards he`ll unlock it, then he can use all the iPhones features.
