I just finished my undergraduate degree with a 3.94 GPA. I'm planning on going to law school, and was told that there are scholarships available to help pay tuition with a service agreement. I've looked on the JAG website as well as the army website and can't seem to find much about these scholarships. Somewhere I read that for the JAG scholarship, you complete and pay for your first year of law school at a qualifying institution, and then the second two years are possibly paid for by the army and you would transfer to Virginia for the remaining two years? When I have looked for more information on the scholarships from the JAG / Military websites, it seems to indicate that the only (very few) scholarships that are available are to minorities, such as Black and Latino students. Can someone please clarify who is eligible for military law school scholarships, and whether or not they are even available these days? Is the JAG scholarship now either unavailable or far more selective due to the bad job market? I would greatly appreciate it if someone could explain to me whether or not scholarships are available, and who is eligible (including such things as GPA or former/current service in terms of who gets preference).
