Jackie Chan's got a new cartoon show in China

The colors Duke the colors!

I wouldn't mind seeing this series cross the pond if it retains the humorous tone that Adventures had. I doubt his old sayings like "bad day bad day bad day" would stay though.

I'm sorry, I just have troubles with any kind of cartoon made in CHINA. You know, the country where sweatshops became infamous, and where more people got murdered than in Stalin's Russia? Do I have to bring up Tibet too?

And this is coming from a guy whose grandfathers fought against Japan.

I don't want to see this crossing the pond, not while China is controlled by this regime that probably made damn sure that this cartoon is fully sanitized and censored.

Here's a wacky idea. Since this is a forum for discussion of cartoons and not politics, let's, y'know, discuss cartoons and not politics. There are plenty of other places you can go to discuss politics, and if your personal politics prevent you from enjoying a particular cartoon, you are free to not watch it and not discuss it.

First season Beyblade.

Nah I think it looks like his caricature... he's got a bit of a pointier face than he really does but you can still tell its him. Before he got ruined by stunt accident that is.

Also note that "Huang Yulang" is the Chinese (in Mandarin) name of Hong Kong comic book/legend Tony Wong Yuk-Long. He is the creator of the classic "Dragon Tiger Gate" series which was remade into a live-action movie a few years ago. ("Dragon Tiger Gate" is confirmed to be going for a movie reboot soon.) For American readers, you might have seen Tony Wong's work in DC Comics' Batman Hong Kong in which Bruce Wayne goes to Hong Kong to solve a case involving the Hong Kong triads. I actually bought both the Chinese and English editions of "Batman Hong Kong". The Hong Kong version has 5 extra pages not in the American version. I only bought the American edition cuz it came in a nice hardcover case.

uhhh....Jackie Chan didn't direct "The Myth". Stanley "Rumble in the bronx" Tong did. Although, do go check out "The Myth" and on top of that, import the DVD from Hong Kong. The American DVD is full of ridiculous cuts. Plus, all the extra features and audio commentary are all subbed and translated into English by me. It was great to be able to work for Jackie. Brings back some fond memories! (Yeah, I even came to the world premiere of "The Myth" completely drunk at the Toronto International Film Festival.)

I know about the TV series. Chances are, Joy Sales will be releasing the DVD boxset for this show since Joy Sales is in cahoots with Emperor Motion Pictures. I used to work for them but have stopped since Emperor Motion Pictures have decided to take over the DVD production themselves. And since they are doing it themselves, that also means there will be in-house translators. So that pretty much kicks me off the connection. Joy Sales still remains as EMP's token distributor of their movies in the Hong kong and Macau region.
