J&M 7.25 Speaker Review

I'm very familiar w/ B/T settings, this isn't my issue nor is AVC as it is off. THe speakers just aren't what I was expecting. I should've known as every stereo system of any quality I've ever installed has had much higher quality of speaker w much larger magnets. I just thought w all the ranting and raving about these 7.25s on this site that they were decent speakers.

I think the 7.25 speakers are temperature sensitive. Above 85 degrees, mine sound really clear and I love listening to them. At 60 degrees, I can't understand the voices or the songs and leave the system turned off.

No amp on my set up.

I don't know what to put in those holes.

This has probably already been discussed already somewhere in this thread, but what is the "no shit" difference in sound between stock speakers, the direct replacement upgrade speakers from J&M (part# HCUS-09GTM-B), and the 7.25s from J&M (part# HCUR-5252GTM-B)

What I'm asking is this: If I don't plan on buying the amp to go along with the 7.25's, is there any use in getting them or would I be just as well off with the regular speaker upgrade?
Is there a night and day difference between stock and J&M performance upgrade speakers? How far beyond that are the 7.25's with and without the amp?

I'm worried that if I get the 7.25s without the amp, they wouldn't really be performing at their full potential and I'd be wasting money. Meanwhile, I've never had an upgraded set of speakers on the bike and I might be just as happy with the smaller (and less expensive) set of upgrades.

You must have another issue going on J&M Speakers use Neodymium Magnets they are much more dense and powerful so the "old school Big Magnet" rule goes out the window.

Perhaps you are experiencing issues with the input? I have always been an Audiophile and picky about the tunes.

I have the 7.25 J&M speakers (lifetime warranty) and the 250 Watt Amp purchased through Dr. Vtwin (Great Customer Service) Also running the Hog Tunes tweeter Pods off the Head unit

The audio is clear and Crisp at 90 MPH couldn't ask for more.

I did experience some distortion after about 90 days installed. While I was just in Sturgis J&M had a booth in Rapid City HD I spoke to them on the issue and had me roll in my bike.

The Tech threw in a test CD in my unit and was rockin out drawing a huge crowd. Long story short the problem was in my Iphone overdriving the Harmon Kardon. Apparently whan I upgraded to Iphone Version 4 it changed the volume control in Ipod mode. We set a volume limit and damn it was rock solid again!

Awesome system and good people too Thanks Dr. Vtwin and J&M

I installed my amp and speakers last Sunday and couldn't believe the difference. I don't know how there can be so many complaints about either the amp or the speakers here. It is SO MUCH BETTER THAN STOCK that I personally don't have a single complaint. Was it expensive, yes. But I can actually hear everything at highway speeds over my pipes, and it sounds good. And maybe there isn't "that much" bass, but as many people here have explained you're simply not going to get huge amounts of bass out of simply fairing speakers, or unless you spend a butt-load more for a saddlebag/tourpak system that will cost a whole lot more and take up your storage space. For a common person (not an audiophile) I think this system is great and I've got no complaints about it at all.

The problem is, there is no answer that fits everyone. I put just the 7.25 speakers in a week ago. Were they worth $220? To me, yes. But I can afford it. I will probably buy the amp too to make it even better. If money was tight, I would say don't do it. It is better, but it's not utterly amazing. To me, anyway. Everyone has different finances and different expectations, so there is no way to know if I should recommend them to anyone. Best plan is to buy them somewhere that is an easy return if you don't think they are worth the money.

I'm "more than happy" with mine without an amp upgrade.

Geez, I suppose that's old news at this point... But still valid.
