J&M 7.25 Speaker Review

I have a 2010 Ultra SE AND AM USING THE FRONT 7.25 J/M SPEAKERS WITH HOGTUNES IN THE BACK. At high speeds 80 plus it seems to have a fluttering distorted sound. I did not know about the AVC or cb or not having the bass and treble settings all the way up which is where mine are set. I will try those changes and see if it helps. Is anyone else experiencing the distorted flutter at say plus 75mph. When sitting still the thing cranks but I need that at 80 mph. THANKS, MACK

My settings that sound the best at highway speeds are:

BASS: 4-6 bars
TREBLE: 2-3 bars

Make sure your intercom and CB is turned off. AVC should be turned off as well.

Try that and it should sound better. I would recommend going with the J&M 5.25" rear upgraded speakers. If you want even more volume, install the J&M 250 watt amp. That will be the icing on the cake.

The fluttering distortion is most likely because you have your bass setting cranked all the way up. Bring it down to my recommended settings and you should be ok.

Thanks Shaun,I am thinking of going with the Hogtunes lower fairing speakers with amp and use my 160w amp to push front and rear speakers. Any experience with the lower fairing speakers??
 
You would have better results spending the money on the J&M amp and going with the J&M 5.25" rear speakers. The amp will really wake up the 7.25" front speakers and will sound way better than the lowers with the amp.

I already have a 160 watt amp that comes on the SE bike. Isnt that enough power to drive the front and rear without problems? If I add the lowers with the amp that should help even more wont it?
 
It should be enough power to drive the front and back speakers if the true power output of the SE amp is 160 watts. You can add the lowers with an amp if you like, but keep in mind the sound will be hitting your legs more than your ears. It won't sound as good as the fairing speakers.
