J&M 7.25 Speaker Review

Wow...leather jackets...seems like a slim chance although that would be great!...I have a 2010 RG and impatiently waiting for the AMPS to get shipped from J&M...rather bummed that they kind of show them as available now! As per my previous post, I will be having Shawn at DRVTWIN doing the install as he is an hour away from where I live. I think this will be his first RG install, so I will be the Guinea Pig for the hideously beautiful fairing removal that is the ROAD GLIDE...not sure if there is a dead body or birds nest in there!!

As I told Shawn, I will bring my camera and try to take photos of the removal and install, and I can say Shawn and Al from DRVTWIN have been super friendly and given me a good price on install, etc.

Have stock stereo. Biketronics amp. J&M 7.5 speakers w/ hog tunes tweet pod.
stereo will shut off power to speakers when vol is up more than 1/2 way after a few min. if i turn off bike and restart speakers work again. anyone with similar problem or reason why? please help.

If you have the BT444 or BT454 amp, you can't run that amp with the 7.25" speakers. They don't work well together. We had a similar situation on a Road Glide local to us. He removed the Titan amp and the problem went away. There is an impedence compatibility issue between the amp and the 7.25" speakers. Remove the amp and the problem will go away. To avoid damaging the speakers or the amp, I would remove the amp sooner than later. Hope this info helps.

Thanks!

Shawn

I personally have the entire J&M set-up which consists of the 7.25" J&M speakers and the J&M amp. The speakers sound amazing and sound deafening. Go with the J&M amp. Give us a call to pre-order an amp. We should have more in stock within the next couple of days.

Retail: $449.95

Dr. V-Twin HDforum member price: $349.95 SHIPPED!

You are safe to run the Hogtunes tweeter pod with the J&M amp.

Thanks!

Sounds like you may be using the 2ohm J&M's. The smaller Biketronics amps are rated for 4-8ohm speakers. Using 2ohm speakers will overwork the amps and cause them to overheat and then shut down until they cool down.

Another option you could do is swap to the 8ohm J&M's as they will run fine with the Biketronics amps.

We have a ton of the J&M speakers in stock for batwing and Road Glide bikes. More amps are coming in on Monday for the batwing fairing bikes ONLY! Road Glide amp kits will be shipping from J&M to us late next week according to J&M. Call now to reserve yours as they will all be gone by the time they arrive!

Thanks!

Shawn
