J&M 7.25 Speaker Review

Oh for those interested. I did a sound recording with just the speakers and the idea was to duplicate everything and record it again with the AMP. but by the time I got done with the install, it was too late to make the second recording, neighbors would have gone nuts I think.

So I got all the settings written down and I will get the 'After' recording in a day or two and post it.

This clip was recorded as an MP3 and downloaded directly from the recording device. Microphone was 10' directly behind the bike on a slight downhill, hence the mic was probably ground level with the bike. The stereo on the bike was set as the following:
Volume : 8 Bars
Bass : +2 Bars over Neutral
treble : +1 Bar over Neutral
ACV : Off
and since I know it will be asked... exhaust is in my signature.

I have the recording levels locked on my recorder so I will be able to recreate this with ease in the next day or two.

And now for the first recording! MP3 : J&M 7.25 Speakers (No Amp) 600K file size

I have the h-w double shot. The sound is so much better than stock. The highs and the mid however are not so great, so I'm just looking around the foums to see if I can do a little more tweeking. Looking at my options is all.
Thanks

Great write up....hey wich side did the cable finaly go down you never said ? this could save me a couple beers on my install wich leaves more time to pound the tunes out on the road.

Thanks for the imput

I gave up trying to snake the wire thru on mine and just removed the tank. Then routed the wire thru the tray on top of the frame and put it all back. Really surprised me how simple it was once I decided to do it.

After trying for about 30 minutes to snake the wire thru and having it get stuck several times, I was concerned that I would pull something else loose. I got the service manual out, removed the tank and was done in less than 15 minutes.

For the amount of time that I tried fishing a line through I could have taken off the tank. but 1) Never did it before. 2) Had a full tank of gas. My advice... take the tank off. I was just lazy and thought my way was easier and then I got stubborn and didn't want to try another method because mine was going to work damn it!

I ended up fishing the line from behind the tank and going forward along the left side of the frame.

I'm lazy so I am just cutting and posting this from the thread about the amplifier itself.

The following clips were recorded as an MP3 and downloaded directly from the recording device with no modification. Microphone was 10' directly behind the bike on a slight downhill, hence the mic was probably ground level with the bike. The stereo on the bike was set as the following:
Volume : 8 Bars
Bass : +2 Bars over Neutral
treble : +1 Bar over Neutral
ACV : Off

MP3 : J&M 7.25 Speakers (No Amp) 600K file size

MP3 : J&M 7.25 Speakers w/ J&M Amp 360K file size

Impression after a few days riding with it:

I need better recordings, the amp really shows the quality of low quality MP3's.

Though overall volume is not louder, the sound is crisper. The bass actually hits and you can turn the volume up to higher levels without distortion.

So far, I'm happy with my current audio setup. Now I just need to get rid of that damn H-D Wind Splitter windshield. Anyone want to trade my 6.5" Klock Werks for your 8.5" Klock Werks?

Not sure what you mean by quick disconnects. My 96 RoadKing had a line across the front that could have used quick disconnects but my 2008 was just remove the rear bolts, front bolts, console and disconnect the quick disconnect fuel fitting then remove the tank. Nothing to change.
