Do the 7.25's alone perform better than the HT with the HT amp? Price wise your are looking at $220 for the speakers and then $350 for the amp if the speakers are not enough. HT speaker and amp is around $300

I realize we are kind of comparing apples to oranges but for those of us on a budget I really do not need to be blown off the back of my bike from the stereo. I am just looking for a good bang for the buck.

I must say I am REAL skeptical about buying another set of 5.25 JM speakers. I have a set now and do not like them and not real impressed.

UltraNutZ, which J&M 7.25 speakers did you use with the road rage amps, the 2ohm or the 8olm? I'm asking since from what I can figure out the RR amp says it's for 4ohm speakers. Also I assume that if I'm only trying to power fairing speakers that I would only need 1 amp. I'm running an early model radio, 2000 Ultra, that calls for 8olm speakers & would like some options if I'm not satisfied with them without an amp. Thanks for all your information.

DTTJGlide:
I used the 2 ohm speakers and yes the amp states 4 ohms but from my years of experience in audio, a 2 ohms speaker will work fine as long as you don't over-do it. And with this setup, you won't over-do it. But you'll be very happy with the 8 ohm selections as well. Yes sir you are correct, only 1 amp is needed for your setup. If you are going to utilize the factory radio with just speakers, then you MUST use the 8 ohm version otherwise you'll burn the radio outputs up. The amps are not as susceptible to this limitation. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the hassle since you've got the fairing off.. Buy the amp (regardless of the manufacturer as I'm certainly not pushing these amps.. just relaying on good and inexpensive alternatives to the more expensive amps out there)

Since there has been some discussion on chrome or black. Here is a side by side photo for people to see what the differences (which is tweeter finish behind the grill. Main woofer/midrange *Not shown* has chrome center cap on both kits).

Stumbled across this thread and couldn't resist to order a set of these bad boys for my '10 Ultra Glide... Thanks for the detailed reviews everyone!
