J&M 7.25 Speaker Review

Help! I bought these and installed them w/o any issues on my '09 SG...very straight forward install but the sound is not doing it for me. It sounds to me like the speakers are muffled...almost think the stockers sound clearer. Did I do something wrong? Anyone else experience this?

That is odd. We haven't heard this before, however I always advise to check all the speaker connections and make sure everything is tight. If you check all the speaker connections and everything looks solid, check your treble and bass settings. Too much bass will really affect the sound quality. I advise starting off with bass at 2-3 bars and treble at 2 bars then adjust from there, depending on the type of music you prefer.

Let us know if we can be of further assistance.

Thanks!

Shawn

Night one of the J&M 7.25 speaker install. Thats right I said night one. I tried to install the grills and adapters in the fairing but the assembly kept binding up. When I got the screws almost tight the adapter was forced against the larger tweeter pod's wiring that comes out right at the tweeter. I was afraid the adapter would eventually cut into the wiring causing the pod to malfunction. Upon further investigation I found the grill holes and the adapter holes did not line up properly. I spent an hour and a half using a round rat tail file carefully ob longing the lower hole under the smaller tweeter pod in each grill. Finally got it so the assembly would screw down easily and flat. Geez where was the quality control on my set of speakers? Maybe they don't have such a thing in China. These things better sound good or they are going back.

Dr. V-Twin,

I hope you will be giving a "good deal" on the new JM Amp to those of us who have already purchased the front and rear JM speakers from you.

Just installed 7.25 J&M's today on my EG standard, 2 fairing speakers and a tweeter bar "only".
I had hog tunes.
Bought the J&M's through Dr. V-Twin @ 222. Shipped from CA to AL, Thanks Shawn.
Easy install, a 10 year old can follow the instructions.
@ 80 MPH & a bit @ 75% volume I was impressed. Clarity, bass, treble, impressed, @ 65-70, turn down the volume.
No amp, don't need it.

Are you sure you received the 2 ohm's and not the 8's? You need the 2 ohm for the 09'. Mine sound killer - 05' RG with 2 ohm speakers and 2 channel amp @ 125 RMS per channel.
