I replaced the hogtunes speakers and left the Hogtunes amp in place. The amp carries a min of 32 watts per channel, so it isnt huge. It sounds excellent with no issues.

This may have been discussed before but I am not going to read back through the 48 pages of this thread. How do these do as far as getting wet? The grills are open on them and the tweets are right there. I realize everyone will say they are waterproof but cant water get past the grills to the speakers and lay in there? I wash my bike and spray the inner fairing so this is a concern I have.

To tell you the truth, I've been rethinking my own bike washing methods by not spraying water anywhere near the dash...there are other, safer ways to clean that area...

Rain shouldn't be a problem (no more than with any other speaker anyway) as it really doesn't get past the spkr mesh, but forcing water into the speaker area certainly could be...

Just 1 mans opinion...B

This is a good question and since I already washed my bike with these speakers in them I can tell you that I got a lot more water blowing out of the speaker areas on the initial ride. I also try not to get the dash area too wet and even hang a towel from my windshield bag to keep it out of the radio. Might have to adjust even more and not get them very wet.

I was wondering the same thing and the roadglide speakers are even more out in the open face up to the weather. I was told they are lifetime warranty but how do you tell when the tweeter or midrange sht and who wants to keep pulling the outer fairing

Just wanted to drop a quick note to thank everyone on this post. I'm not much of a do-it-yourself guy, but with the instructions and pictures on this page, I was able to install my new J&M's yesterday in just over an hour. I have to agree with every other post on all these pages... what a difference from the stock speakers. Probably the best money I've invested since buying the bike... thanks to the great reviews here that pushed me into buying them... worth every penny.
