J&M 7.25 Speaker Review

I am looking to get these speakers and the amp as a set when they will be released shortly and am wondering what I need to do to reduce vibration in the fairing. Will it cause any problems with vibrating screws loose? What about the windshield, do you notice the vibration in it?

Thanks,
Scott

Scott,

From my personal experience, you shouldn't have any vibration at all from these speakers with or without an amp. J&M provides acoustic foam that attaches to the outer fairing cover, so it provides an even tighter fit when the fairing goes back together. The presense of the acoustic foam alone will minimize or eliminate any potential for any vibration.

Thanks!

What Ballpark Price will we be looking at for this AMP? I believe the ARC is approx $300 is your company looking at that range or are you trying to come in uder that?

I just wanted to do this once and decided to get the 7.25's. I got a short ride in and they seem great at 80 MPH w/o an amp. which is good enough for me. I had my fairing bracket covered w some foam to protect it fr. the hidden antenna and didn't realize it was broke until I had the speakers in. I had to remove the one side because I was going to drill and put an L brace on the bracket vs. buying there new improved $49 brace. Well I did manage to break the ceramic holding bridge for the speaker wires. John said they would replace but supper glue seems to holding it fine. Just be careful if you have to take the wires off. Also he suggested getting the new speaker braces ($9.50 ea.) that HD finally came out with. One of those was also broke and I had one break last year. HD engineering at it's best and it's not hard to see why these are a POS. J&M provides a conversion kit for the new speaker braces.
Wouldn't it be nice if HD could get it right the first time or stand behind their improved replacemants parts. I bet their engineers make more then most of us.

Anyway I'm glad I spent the money for these. If you were to get the 6 1/2 speakers plus the adapter rings, the acoustic foam and then need an amp., it would most likely be more.

I just bought a pair and should be here any day. I'm hooking them up to a arc audio 125.2 I will post how much better they sound with the amp if any.

Hey Dr. V-Twin quick question. I dont want to spend alot of cash on my speaker upgrade. What would you say is the best bang for the buck, J&M 7.25 speakers with no amp, Hogtunes fairing only with amp or hogtunes fairing and tweeter bar no amp. They all run about the same price which is my limit, say around 240-265. You sell both so I'm hoping for an honest unbiased opinion. 07 Streetglide

Good question and I can address your question as I have personally had every single set-up you asked about on my 2009 Street Glide.

After testing the Hogtunes speakers only, then with the amp and then with the tweeter pod, I can say that once I went with the J&M set-up WITHOUT the amp I felt that the J&M 7.25" speakers were the best bang for the buck. I know the J&M speakers aren't cheap, but they do perform and you will love the sound results. We haven't had any complaints!
