I just spent 10 hrs with the 7 1/4 J&M speakers today and can't understand why anyone would need an amp. The will drown out my V&H tru duals and slip-ons at 70mph on a hard uphill pull. Probably sold a couple sets for you today to the guys that were riding with me. The clarity at speed is awsome!!!!
I had mine installed at the Las Vegas BikeFest on Thursday night and I am enjoying the hell out of them.
On the way home that night I pulled up just behind a lil Honda Civic blasting his boom box... "OK, I'll play." I said to myself. I had the ricer sticking his head out of the window to see where the noise was coming from over his boom car. Keep in mind, I was behind him.
Today during the poker run, my friend with his chopper kept riding next to me. When I questioned it at the next stop... he mentioned that he was just listening to my stereo. Again... Chopper... with a 111" build with short pipes.
JMJOHN, Just wanted to offer my self up as a Guinea Pig for your 7.25 speakers for the Road Glide when they come out. I heard the 5.25 speakers for the RG in Vegas but I really want to hear the 7.25's before I make a choice.
I was also there (live in Vegas) and listened to them and have to say I was disappointed also. I thought they sounded flat. Yes they are loud but so are Hogtunes and others. I guess I expected a little more bass since they are bigger speakers. I thought the mounting adapter was excellent. It looks like the only way to get better sound is to add more power. Does anyone know of an equilizer thet will work with HK system?
