J and J Present: How To [Blank] In 7 Easy Tracks

Cheers fella. Bong Ra is a Dutch guy who loves metal but just sort of fell into making hard assed breakcore. Listening to your mix at the moment. Pig destroyer-of course and Daisy Chainsaw! Is that the album with the immortal 'Love Your Money' on it? I SO want that album! The Sunn 0)) track fits perfectly.

Yeah you went in a slightly more upbeat sound on yours. I have been wanting that Frank Sinatra track for a while and Hellbent was brilliant- love the bassline.

Janzoon i thought yours was very deserty so did very well, the Chris Connelly song worked really well in particular. For a PJ Harvey song i would have used Ecstacy :D

Jack's didn't really hit me, it was a bit too world music for me. Not that it was particularly bad music but i did find myself switching off a few times.

i've been a quite busy with other stuff to have kept up with this until now, it's a shame this latest one hasn't been getting reps because it's great.

I'm partial to both halves, the down tempo stuff is a bit schmaltzy but, hey, that's teenage romance! There are some classic names I had been wanting to hear for a while on Janszoon's half as well - Carl Perkins, Gene Vincent... you know you've heard them before but they all kind of blur together. I was most pleased with Brown Eyed HanRABome Man having only got the Buddy Holly version, who did it first? Bobby Vee for the big win btw - perfect!

So if Janszoon was doing drive-in American Graffiti, his wife/hubby (I forgot who wears the trousers in this thing?) Jackhammer has the Breakfast Club covered. I really love the Primitives but was only familiar with their crackly old C86 stuff, it's a bit of an epiphany, more garage indie banRAB should have unleashed their ear for pop in a professional 80's studio methinks. I'm always up for more classic 80's, and I'd only heard Pat Benatar's name used in a derogatory context before... why?!
It's all good but the crowning glory is the synth-pop of Icehouse; and if you are wondering what all the fuss is about with 80's Bowie then you'll want to cop it too.

edit: jan where did that Soul Coughing track come from? it sticks out like a (good) sore thurab

I'm happy you liked them both! That's funny the track reminded you of Suicide because I didn't really listen to them back when I recorded that song. I love them now though so I'll take it as a compliment. :)

That's funny, I think I feel exactly the opposite about those two albums. I like Phantom Lirab but think it lacks the intensity of Terrifyer.

The Swans track is brilliant. I only have Cop and Young God so I definitely want to hear the album that that track is from. Are you into the Angels Of Light/. Gira's later project. Very very good.

Looking forward is perhaps not the correct phrase as I don't expect it to be played much! I was rather hoping that the dopeheaRAB would turn out the lights, spark a fat one and erabrace it all! Paranoia FTW lol.
