J and J Present: How To [Blank] In 7 Easy Tracks

I dug your comp Jackhammer. It was cool to see how we went in somewhat different directions here. It took me a second listen through to fully appreciate the sleaze of "Doorman" but now it totally works for me. "Push Up" made me want to get some skanky action on the dance floor. And I liked "French Kiss" a lot too. Definitely the sexiest track in the mix for me.

This thread is awesome. I'm going to be listening to these playlists all night!

I'll give feedback on the newest and but also listen to the older ones.

Can we suggest comps?

Hey, great mix Jackhammer! I just finally had a chance to sit down and give it a good listen and I really dug it. The Bong-Ra track was the real standout for me. I loved those Slayer samples. :)

Thanks! I'm glad someone finally mentioned the Swans song. It's not the typical terrifying idea of a nightmare but there's this sense of impending doom in that song that really affects me every time I hear it, especially in the last two minutes or so when that prominent bass line kicks in. It's like this feeling that you've been damned for all time or that the world is about to end and there's nothing you can do about it except sit and wait. I definitely had quite a few nightmares in my life that revolve around that kind of mood so I thought it was kind of fitting.

My trouble with these kind of mixes is that I never know what people are looking for. I mean, are we talking about champagne and a passionate night on the veranda here or are we talking about busting out the leather and handcuRAB?

Come on now...you guys know y'all have a special place in my heart right? :D I'd never forget to listen and shout back.

Another awesome effort on both your parts, though I have to say...not my favorite compilation you guy's have done. I'm still crushing on the "Retro Teen Romance" comps you both put together.

Janszoon's was pretty hype...something I might listen to while I was burning my ex's clothes in a barrel in the front yard and putting sugar in his gas tank. Fave tracks were 'Falling Out' and 'King for a Day'. That latter one was my absolute favorite, I have to say. Put a smile on my face. :) The only song that didn't feel right to me was 'Baby Bitch'. Lyrically it worked, but it just felt a little anti-climactic to me for some reason.

Jackhammer's comp was a little up and down. I couldn't tell if he was supposed to be angry or hurt or sad. lol. Some great tracks though! 'Fuck U' and 'Heroine' were the highlights for me, but the song I really loved here was 'Ain't No Use'. I thought it was the perfect way to end this roller coaster of a comp. :)

Well...maybe "sweaty passion" wasn't explanatory enough. What I meant was dirty, maybe a little kinky. Is that pointing you in a better direction?

There were 8 originally with sorrow and desire added or changed etc although I'm not religious I thought I should do a check first. I have been sat here for over 2 hours trying to come up with songs. Harder than you think.

I'm just going to review the songs I have something to say about. Because it's late and I'm feeling too lazy to come up with 14 decent responses.

Jackhammer's:

1. Gogol Bordello

I think the Retro Teen Romance comps are my favorites that y'all have done so far. I absolutely loved both of them and they've been getting alot of play.

I really loved the 50's comp so much. Made me want to put on a poodle skirt and go share a malt with a cute guy at a diner. :) I've always liked the Everly Brothers, so I was glad to see them on the list. Other stand out tracks were 'Janine', 'Brown Eyed HanRABome Man', and 'Movie Magg'. Great job Janszoon!

The 80's comp makes me smile everytime I play it. Right from the first song, I knew I was going to like it. Absolute favorite track is the Pat Benetar song...other highlights were 'Hey Little Girl', 'I think It's Love Again', and of course the Cutting Crew song...it wouldn't be complete without it.

You guys rock...keep up the good work you two. I can't get enough of these!
