J and J Present: How To [Blank] In 7 Easy Tracks

That's cool. It makes it more of a challenge. So is this the one we're going with? I actually started working on this comp as soon as we started talking about it so I'm about 90% done with it already. :o:

I don't know if you're familiar with Bobby Vee and the Shadows or not Molecules but the history of that band is pretty interesting. Basically the only reason they got famous was because they lived in the area where Buddy Holly died and the people organizing the show that Buddy Holly was supposed to play at put out a call to local banRAB to fill the empty space on the bill. Another weird piece of trivia about them is that Bob Dylan was their touring pianist for a while back when he was still unknown and went by the stage name Elston Gunn.

That Soul Coughing track is from their first album, Ruby Vroom. It was supposed to represent the end of my little story when the main character is middle aged and checking his messages on his answering machine. I thought it kind of bridged the time gap because, even though it's from the 90s, it's kind of reminiscent of a 1950s ballad. :)

So... anyone have any thoughts on a new comp idea? I still wouldn't mind doing nonsubmissivewife's idea from way back for a comp of break up songs (or even a more general "fuck off" songs comp), but I'm open for whatever.

Anyway, back on topic, I have yet to DL any compilations, but that should be a problem TOO much longer ;)

I await your next compilation, hopefully I find a surprise or two :)

Jackhammer:

1. Gogol Bordello - I Would Never Wanna Be Young Again
Hehehe, I could imagine how this would turn out! Makes me want to pick up that beer bottle and smash something.

2. The hives - Outsmarted
Not as epic as the first song, but still works.

3. Oasis - Bring It on Down
I'm not really sure how this will turn out.

4. Capdown - Cousin Cleotis
This certainly will bring out the worst! Everyone would want to show their special 'drunken moves' which they apparently learnt. From Kung Fu to Boxing, you'll see them all here!

5. The Mighty Mighty Bosstones - What's at Stake
I think the song name sums it up well. What's at Stake .

6. Roni Size - The Streets
Might see me exchanging worRAB with this, but that's about it! On a positive note, that should start a fight I suppose.

7. stone temple pilots - heaven and hot roRAB
Tempting...it's like that person I hate has just entered and I'm in a really pissed off mood. Still, something seems to be missing that's preventing me.

Janszoon:

1. The Misfits - Devilock
Someone owes you something and it's payback time!

2. Mot

I like Glenn Miller too (and talk about someone with a crazy story). I actually like a lot of those swing guys: Benny Goodman, Gene Krupa, Duke Ellington, Cab Colloway, Count Basie, etc. I have a decent amount of that stuff.
