I've graduated Marine Corps boot camp friday Sept 11...?

Now I'm on my 10 day leave then Recruiters assistance.

Now this is what I need, when it comes to recruiting I'm a little shy or just unsure of who or how to ask someone to make a life changing decision.

Can anyone give tips on: who to approach, how to approach them, and how I can convince them to enlist.

Secondly, I'm anticipating SOI, I'm infantry 5 yr. open contract, and was looking for any tips, tricks, suggestions, anything to help out for me at SOI.

and also what should i expect because i cant find a training matrix for SOI only MCT
I'm contracted PFC
 
try to relate to them and tell them what is was like for you to join and go thur boot camp. don't try to tell sugar coated stories about it just give them the facts straight up.

I took R/A after bootcamp as well (Mostly because I graduated on Nov 13, so it coencided with the thanksgiving holiday) and what I can tell you is 2 things...

1) You aren't in Boot Camp anymore, remember that. Trust me, it's harder then it seems. You have to be personable, funny, approachable, etc. People don't want to talk to you if all you talk about is how hard and disciplined you are, how much of a killer you are, etc, all the things that we Marines pride ourselves in, most of them scare away civillians.

2) You have no idea the amount of confidence and pride you will exude while walking around in your uniform-USE IT! You're a bit intimidating when you walk up to people out of the blue, sure, but people are always attracted to confidence and swagger, You are now a part of the top 1% of all Americans, you better act like it and people will see that pride coming through you.

As far as SOI goes, I actually hated it worse then bootcamp, because it's a bit of a tease, like, "Hey, now you're a real Marine...but we're still going to treat you like pi** because you are just an unskilled puke who hasn't contributed anything to the Corps yet!" Which is true, but it's a bit of a culture shock.

The best piece of advice? If you're going to SOI at Pendleton, ALWAYS GO NORTH! When you get weekend libbo, all the boots (Which is all you new Marines) always go south to Oceanside/Vista, trust me, all the good stuff is north. Head up to the Lagunas, Anaheim, LA, etc.
 
5 years wow they really got you. just ask high school kids what they are planning after high schools if they are really sure that they got something (like college or a job) for sure.. ,and tell them the benefits of GI bill and being able to have a steady job in these turbulent times

just like the recruiter did to you like if you are married he would tell you all about extra pay all that stuff or if you were interested in college he will refer how expensive school is and the GI bill would pay for all that or if you wanted to be a sniper/Marsoc he would tell you about all those high speed jobs
