ive changed the battery in my smoke alarm in my house but the red light keeps

A lot of times these things are defective or the battery isn't seated properly in it's contact position. Continuous intermittent beeping is the alarm that the battery is low and needs to be replaced. Make sure the 9 volt contact points are properly seated. If it continues, take it back. I'm assuming it is using 9 volt batteries.
 
flashing still, is this normal? one of them (couldnt tell which as they are close together) started going off randomly so ive changed the batteries in both the downstairs ones but the one in the kitchen keeps beeping every few minutes and red light flashing too,, could it be faulty!
