...show. What about sales price? I am going to be showing three 13 x 19" photographs at a group art photography show at a local gallery next month. I need to price them. I have an idea how much I'd like to price them based on the time/effort I put into them. Should I just go with that estimate or lower it with the idea that they might be more likely to sell. I understand they might not sell, of course. Also, I have a concept to mount them on brown wrapping paper rather than frame them, but would that make them less 'marketable.' This concept is for aesthetic reasons, but if people will feel more comfortable with traditional framing, I am willing to do that. My main objective is to get out there and become better known.

my advice: frame them. thin black classic frames. also they should be matted with white or eggshell beveled matboard. you can have the mats cut fairly cheap at hobby lobby. (they usually do a perfect job)

the price of your prints is up to you completely

my friend sold a couple 8x10 b&w's of a bombed building at a silent auction for $200 each

will the gallery take a percentage if they sell? If so, you'll need to adjust your price accordingly. (If you'd like to make $200 and the gallery takes 30%, you'll need to price at ......$280 ish) I wouldn't compromise your aesthetic values......if you are only making art so that it will be marketable, are you truly an artist? I think you'll regret it later.
