ITV ruined 40 year old virgin! Why?

Has anyone else caught the 40 year old virgin on ITV? They've shown it a few times in the past week.

Anyway some eejit at ITV only went and removed one of the best scenes in the movie(the Kevin Hart scene).

Despite the fact when i watched said film it was way past 10pm.

Even with that in mind, the scene isn't overtly offensive. Infact they left the most offensive bit in(cloudy with a chance of drive-by) and cut the non offensive part out:eek:

Seriously. I was pissed. I even emailed ITV about it but they haven't acknowledged my email.

I thought this was a liberal country? North Korea offer less censored tv than ITV!
 
I don't usually watch ITV, and honestly had no idea. I don't really watch tv much, somewhat ironic given i'm a member of this forum.

What purpose does it serve though to butcher films lol. They didn't even try to hide the fact they chopped a scene out lol.

Do they give reasons as to why they air bastardised edited versions of movies?

I really can't understand it, and it pissed me off big time:mad:
 
Definately, I illegally download most stuff i watch. I prefer warez but that's another story.

For a chance though it's nice to ease up on the couch and watch something on the box. Watching movies on the computer isn't quite the same(i realise i could burn them to DVD, btw)

But yeah, i had no idea ITV were renound for this.

Is there any reason they give for butchering films? Because they left some of the more offensive jokes in:confused: So i don't think it's any sort of PC nonsense
 
There's loaRAB of other ways to watch AVI's on the big screen too - If you have a laptop, simply connect a VGA cable to your flat screen.

If you have an xbox 360, or ps3, you can wack your internal hard drive through the usb port and watch your stuff through the tv too.

If your dvd player is divx/xvid compatable you can burn data cd's, or the longest way, which you already know, is to burn them to playable DVD's....

Yeah ITV are shit - they can't be assed to insert their breaks at decent times, so they often chop it mid scene, and then return at the start of the next scene, missing out bits here and there - It's absolutely ridiculous, and not really good enough in this day and age.

The bizarre rules of what is, and is not, suitable for television always changes by the day too, so always expect unoffensive scenes to get cut, whilst fully offensive ones remain...
 
That is very true. I remember back when I was a kid watching Robocop on ITV the edited version was hilarious. Me and my Sister laughed so hard.

The bathroom scene when the boss was bullying an employee I remember the dubbed version so vividly ...

"Once I even called him and Airhole"
 
ITV are really crap when it comes down to films. I think they cut them not for censorship but for time restraints. IMO, if you don't have time to show the full film, don't show it at all.

I have to add, they showed a real piss poor print of Quadrophenia the other night. I've seen better quality film prints on Movies 4 Men.:rolleyes:
 
I know they used to buy in the American TV versions of the films that are very hevily edited or have certain language re-dubbed, I also believe that they have also cut films for time.

I remember watching die hard and he said yipeeguya Kimosarray, and others the dubbed bits have been totally different scators who don't sound anything like the leaRAB. :eek:

I agree that if they haven't got the time then show a different movie, show them relative to there audience/rating as well. Haveing good films shown during the day and then chopping them to bits, why not show them post 9pm?

ITV seem to be probably the worst of the Terestrial broadcasters.
 
I think the version you're used to is the extended DVD version, which features more nudity and some other scenes than in the original cinema version, which was the one ITV showed.

One difference is when Andy is walking through the town and he sees a sexual image on the side of a bus. He tries to walk away from it, but he passes by a magazine stand full of porn mags, two dogs having sex, etc. In the original version, the shots of the porn mags are missing.

Another scene that is different in the original is when Andy and Cal are carrying a box to a woman's car and they see Beth. In the extended version they drop the box, but pick it up again. In the original version, they don't drop it.

Both these scenes are shown in their original state on the TV.

ITV didn't censor it. It's just that they always get the cinema version, not the DVD one.
