ITV hacking away at Back To The Future this afternoon

Just channel surfing earlier and caught the first 20 minutes of Back To The Future. There is a scene when Marty kisses Jennifer goodbye and she writes a phone number and 'I Love You' on a piece of paper for him. The Huey Lewis track Power OF Love kicks in and McFly jumps on his board and grabs a passing car to get a boost home. It's a good scene in the film but ITV decided to cut it from when she gives the paper back to Marty up to the part when he is skating into the road where he lives on.

Why edit that part out ??? I turned off then. Lord knows what else they did to this awesome film.

I have the 1080P versions so never watch them on TV any more.

But before It was on Sky Movies a few months ago and uncut on there to.

I think its to fit more adRAB in.

The film ended 10 minutes before time so no need to edit random moments although language was curtailed as usual.

Although I was surprised that both "bitch" and "ass" were left in while "assholes" was cut.

The currently available version of the first film has the "To Be Continued" caption that was included at the time of release edited out.

They never expected to make a sequel but tacked it on as a laugh so to remove it when it is actually relevant seems odd.

Whats more annoying is that the documentary on the dvd includes a clip of the ending with the caption intact .

The series is due out on Bluray this year .

Jurassic Park is out this year also on BD.

will actually invest in both trilogies on BD, as i never had them on DVD!!! owned both on VHS, and had seen them to death on those formats and havent seen them for ages.

also want Contact on BD, having only owned that on VHS.

This kind of thing pi**es me off. If a channel deams that content is not suitable to be shown at a correct time they should not show it at the time. If a channel deams it neeRAB to edit films for whatever reason they just shouldn't show it. Simples.

I noticed this scene missing about a year ago when it was on. I started to question whether I'd dreamt up the scene until I watched it again recently on Sky.

This is not correct.

As you say, the ending of the film was just a nice little thing about the adventure continuing, and a sequel wasn't planned. The original theatrical release didn't have a 'To Be Continued' caption, but this was added later to VHS releases.

The DVD used the original theatrical release, and so there is no caption used.

Is it Greased Lightning.

There's a rude word in that but the Beeb edited it out....dodgy jump in the song. Why they just didn't remove the sound for the one word is beyond me

Why would anyone in their right mind even consider watching a movie(or anything else) on ITV, let alone complain when they mutilate it?
