ITV Central News - transsexual newsreader?

I think what is meant is the way in which John Willats talks, rather than his pitch. I have always thought the way he talks is quite feminine, but that's how I talk so you know what?

Good for him! :D

Having two presenters frequently taking turns to speak supposedly holRAB your attention more than one person droning on. Perhaps it's for a similar reason that there is a separate sports presenter. If you're waiting for the football results, your mind might drift off during the main news but you'll notice when it's time for the sport with someone else.

I find the look on the face of the non-speaker very off-putting, especially when the pair speak alternate sentences, as happens on our ITV local news. It's very unnatural, so the non-speaker looks uncomfortable until it's their turn. They're sitting there looking at the camera but not sure what to do till their next line. It's less of a problem where a separate specialist correspondent, like a sports presenter, appears as at least the reason for having two presenters makes sense and it's more like a normal conversation.

The idea that they have to do this to keep the attention of the audience is really quite depressing. I don't need multiple presenters to hold my attention, but it's disturbing that some people actually might do.
