It's pathetic that people are knocking the iPhone...

Not trying to accomplish anything but simply discuss the iPhone. Would you like it better if everyone on this forum praises it? Sorry but thats not how the world is today.

I did read it, you posted the problems you have with it that they found, and I disputed many of the probelms as they are either uninformed or biased. I'm not saying they didn't have good things to say about it.

The point is that the iPhone has nothing special that will blow any other phone out of the water for $500. Most phones that have been out already have the same features already implemented.

The iPhone:
-No one-touch dialing - two touches are required
-IM clients not supported
-No GPS capabilities-I already knew this but not even bluetooth GPS enabled?
-MMS is not supported - it does not support MMS for photos and videos??

Also some other pros and cons: http://gear.ign.com/articles/797/797908p1.html

Don't get me wrong since if it were cheaper and I had AT&T I would buy it for the reason of some pros but the cons are out weighing the pros for me.

I don't bash the IPhone because it is an apple product. I bash the IPhone because you are paying $500-$600 for crap. The MAIN reason people are buying it is because apple is putting it out.

I see most people email when they are at a Computer and text when they are on a phone...

The IPhone would be solid if they fixed their cons and went with a better service provider. Then it would be worth the $600.

The NY Times appears to have a solid review and they cover pretty much all the reason why I would never buy one.

Well I dont have one for my 6700 since I'm always by a hotspot but was just wondering if it was mandatory to get it with the phone.

Not all users have access to Free WiFi at any given moment. In NYC only certain parks and the star bucks have free WiFi. Everywhere else I would be without. So for my 1hr train ride, I would have zero WiFi and the data plan would be nice (Just an example).

A) It's with AT&T... hard to switch phone companies and get into something
B) Apple is going head first into the phone market with an All-or-Nothing plan. I really don't want to bet $600 on that kind of marketing (Especially when I make

who doesn't travel with a laptop or have access to a power outlet? even in the 3rd world where electricity is cut off for hours a day I could keep my phones charged despite constant use.

No user replaceable batteries either, technically. Same as an iPod, you can pry the damn thing open but you can't just swap the battery out.

yeah thats the main reason

500 for a widescreen touch ipod, pda, phone, internet browser is nothing. especially for an all in one. or you could go spend 300 on a phone and another 300 on a ipodand carry 2 things around
