Its killing me .. i think ill just quit playing the violin !?

The hair on my bow keeps snapping when i play
i have to push it to make sound and to make sound it means more
hair snapping - if i don't then it wont make
any sound or a very sandy sound
Its driving me crazy really , i want to learn the violin so badly
i love it but the BOW hates me !
if i cant make any normal sound at all i think i have to quit - and i can't get a teacher
 
Rosin your bow
Take a quarter with rough edges and scrape the rosin until it looks powdery on top.
Then rosin the bow 20 strokes
Try playing
If still no sound do it all again
repeat until you are getting the sound.
 
Are you, or can you afford to, take some lessons? If not, read-up on the basics. I'm sure you'll find some tips online. I recommend that you also search some instructional book titles, then buy at your local bookstore or order in on the net. But give it a chance before dropping it. Cultivating a talent, interest or passion adds so much more to everyday life so don't give up too easily.
