This is not new, I have had this problem since I started my oscommerce site about 3 months ago.
It would seem as though my computer corrupts(?) php pages, and I am going crazy over it. I hope someone can help me. I originally blamed it on my text editor (1st page 2006), but now it happens even if I don't use the editor. I have a serious clue for those who know about this stuff.
When a page is "good", if I go to upload with filezilla, in the transfer windows, I can see that the files appear to be different sizes. For a real example, 33,077 bytes locally and 32,503 online. I upload the 33,077 bytes local file, and after uploading it shows 32,503 online. Everything is perfect.
When a page is "bad", if I go to upload with filezilla, in the transfer windows, I can see that the files appear to be the same size, the lower, online size. For example, 32,503 bytes locally and 32,503 online. I upload the 32,503 bytes local file, and after uploading it shows 32,503 online. Pages return errors that they can't find what is obviously there, I am calling that corrupt.
My solution is that I select all, copy, paste (right back where it was) hit save, and in the filezilla window, the file reports the larger size. I upload and it is perfect. I can then change anything, save, "corrupted" again. Select all, copy, paste, save (without touching anything else), fine again.
I had originally fixed the pages by opening in notepad, copy, paste, save, fixed. But then I found I could copy, paste, save in the text editor (1st page 2006), and it would also be fixed.
Now I downloaded a zip file with the Amazon Payments module, it doesn't work, and every single file reports the smaller online file size. I did nothing to these files except download them, so that seems to exonerate 1st Page 2006. I am uploading in Ascii mode, but I see the problem before any transfer attempt anyway, so I assume filezilla is blameless.
If anyone knows what this is I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
Walter
