I got my wisdom teeth pulled yesterday afternoon and now I'm just moping around the house. Mostly because my gums hurt and I can't really eat anything between the pain, the lack of using my molars, and a slight nausea that just won't go away. I suppose it was a good thing to get them removed, but man is it ever kicking my ass. I have a presentation to give on Monday, so I hope I'm completely better by then because as of right now I can't talk for very long without having pain.

The cool thing is that I asked to keep my teeth and not only are they huge, but all but one of them was pulled whole. So now I have three killer teeth and one broken up tooth. My sister thinks their sick, but my fiancee thinks I should make them into a necklace. I'm just going to keep them because it cost a shit load to have them pulled and I'm never getting rid of them. Anyway, I didn't have anything else to do but rant and every time I tell my mom that my mouth is sore she just goes, I know. Would you like another pain killer? No. I just want to rant. I still have yet to get my wisdom teeth out and I'm seriously worried about it. Please, tell me what they do! Tell me its not all that bad! Agggh! :flamed:
 
I want to get braces. Here's the catch:

Supposedly, I have to first get my wisdom teeth pulled. Then I can get Invisalign but it wouldn't do the job all the way. In order for me to make my teeth perfectly straight, I would have to get jaw surgery for some reason, and get normal braces. Jaw surgery doesn't sound fun. I have no idea why I need jaw surgery, either. Maybe they're just trying to make money.

Yeah, I don't have any money either. Teeth suck. Why can't we just have gums? Kissing would be so much easier.
 
Well, here's what I remember. You go in for a kind of pre-op consultation and they look at your x-rays and tell you what they're going to do, some of the risks of the surgery. Like, my top wisdom teeth were really close to my sinuses, so they said they might have to leave some of the tooth in so they wouldn't puncture the sinus cavity. (Didn't happen btw. Phewh) Then they give you a little syringe thing to clean out the spaces where your teeth were after you've had them removed. They also gave me a booklet saying what to do for each day of the recovery.

On the day of the surgery they hook you up to a couple of monitors and take your bloodpressure. They'll put an IV in either your arm or your hand. (I had been fasting for a while like they said, so after trying to get the IV in my arm they decided to go with my hand. It wasn't too horrible. :tongue:) Then they give you some meds through the iv which knock you out completely. When you wake up, the teeth are removed and they have you lie down for a bit. Then you go home and rest. Which is what I'm doing. But I'm bored out of my mind.

So it's really not too bad, it's just sore for a while, but they gave me Rx Ibuprofin and this stuff called Darvaset for pain. They'll also put you on antibiotics and give you a medicated mouth rinse so there are no infections. It's really not too horrible. Just uncomfortable.
 
AHHH! I think I would die before I payed someone to put me through days of pain. Screw them, the man is just trying to put us in pain! That sucks ass that the man got you down though, you should probably have kicked the dude who pulled your teeth after the surgery and say, "Now imagine that much pain in your mouth for the next three days!" I would laugh.
 
I dunno. I was told that wisdom teeth that don't come through the gum can cause tumors and polyps and other problems. That's why they recommend that they're pulled. One of mine has been comming in for over 3 years, but there was no room for it, so it was pushing all my other teeth and cuasing pain. So I guess it is inevitable for some people. For me it was anyway. Gah! Damn nausea. :sad:
