"It was funnier on Family Guy"

Well, to be fair, the last two things mentioned were still kind of obscure (heck, i was convinced that FG came up with those on their own).

Family Guy actually has a lot of non-parody parodies. For example, they had to have permission from Lucas to collaborate on the Star Wars "spoof" because a lot of it wasn't even a parody, it was just them in Star Wars costumes and storylines.

I saw on youtube these American Idol finalists doing the Tom Cruise scene from Risky Business. It was basically just a complete re-enactment plugging an advertisment in the middle. I'm pretty sure they had to have permission to do that first, because it doesn't constitute a real parody, and apparently a lot of people found it funny. I thought it was stupid because it was just a shot-for-shot remake.

People don't have to be original or creative to be considered funny. Seeing someone do something out of context can be funny enough.

You get scenes from Family Guy that "should not" be funny but are simply because it is animated. Every episode now features these long drawn out scenes of something trivial happening for 30 to 60 seconds as a gag. It's funny simply because of the characters doing it, and the fact that you don't see that kind of thing in animation very often.

I like the Family Guy version of Shipoopi a lot better than the original.

Sometimes you just like the parody much better than the thing being parodied.

Like the Dog Whisperer. I'd much rather watch that Dog Whisperer episode on South Park than the show itself.

I always make bad debate cases, don't listen to me, though.

I can accept people liking the Family Guy versions of jokes better (I can't call exact copies "parodies"), but it's the stupid kids who think that Family Guy did it first who annoy me.

A lot of the parodies/references/ripped-off jokes in FG were taken from movies and TV shows that weren't supposed to be humorous. Comparing the FG joke to the original is not fair most of the time.

And of course that's your opinion. And your welcome to it. But it's obviously not fact, as Speedy Boris, Martianinvader and myself obviously disagree with you.

When has making a character act like he or she is supposed to act ever been something that's been religiously followed on this show? But either way, how is Stewie not acting how he's supposed to act? It's not like he hasn't performed elaborate dance numbers before.

You are also ignoring the fact that most kids who believe the joke is from Family Guy probably aren't old enough or nerdy enough to know if it is actually referencing or parodying something. I mean, let's face it. We are on a message board arguing about kids on YouTube giving another cartoon recognition for parody. Who really wins in that situation?
