overturn the WTO and NAFTA? We made them too powerful:

Man, that article is scary, to think the Chinese could build into our American technology so easily. They are going to own our whole country before we know it. Not only that, the Big Three is part of our industrial security. Without an auto industry in this country (controlled by Americans) we could never tool up for a war, should we have to switch over to building planes, tanks, and other war machines, etc., the way they did during WWII. No foreign owned company will be willing to build them for us and risk drawing themselves into our conflicts and/or becoming a target themselves.

The more I think about this article, the madder I get. The Chinese government can recognize the value and importance of adding the Big Three to their industrial base, but our government can't! Unreal.

What on earth does NAFTA have to do with China?

As for GM and Chrysler: they are short-sighted messes. I think a "guided bankruptcy" would be the only way to save GM. Chrysler is hopeless and probably needs to go away. But I don't know which Chinese car companies would be interested in buying them, considering that the Chinese auto industry is now lobbying the Chinese government for a bailout.

Nafta has nothing at all to do with trade with China. The World Trade Organization is not an American law to be overturned. A treaty is not overturned like a court case. It is abrogated. No treaties or memberships in trade organizations would prevent the Chinese from buying GM and Chrysler. Anybody with enough cash to buy the stock could. Having invested in the greatly increasing American national debt for the last 7 3/4 years the Chinese are now flush with cash. Thank you President Bush.
