It finally clicked with me

You ever have one of those albums that you own for a really long time and just can't get into, but then one day for whatever reason they just finally click with you? That just happened to me today with Husker Du's Land Speed Record. I like other Husker and Bob Mould stuff but for some reason it took me years of owning this album before really enjoying it for the first time today.

Who has had this experience before and with what album?

That's happened to me before with Death cab with cutie. I thought their name was stupid and just thought they were average sounding even though I hadn't really listened to them. I gave them more of a listen and I like them now. What clicked with me also was a few musical genres. I enjoyed the music on occasion but I was never a big fan of blues music or alternative country until very recently. I had the chance to listen to the modern blues station one night on my G2 portable radio (leaves Satellite Radio in the dust), and surprisingly I totally got into it big time. I didn't know there were so many newer blues artists out there and I loved how they played blues songs from crossover artists too. I was hooked. Same thing happened with Alternative Country. I happened to listen for a little bit one night and something clicked with me! I am also really into listening to it every day now. My musical focus was starting to get really narrow recently which I didn't like. I have always been REALLY open minded with music of all kinRAB. No musical snobbery for me. Lately I was only listening to the rock, hard rock, custom stations on Slacker and dance/electronica stations ONLY. I was like wtf am I doing? I have access to gazillions of different music and I decided it was time to step outside of my safe little musical box. I am glad I did. Things clicked for the best with me. :D

I liked Dark Side Of The Moon since I'd first heard it, but one day when I was in the car listening to it really closely and staring out the window... I just realized how incredible it really is.

Most of my favourite artists weren't an immediate thing to be honest. London Calling pops to mind, as an album it was pretty bloody confusing for me when i first heard it but now i'd say its one of the best albums ever.

Oh yeah. I have been thinking about posting a similar thread but that would have been about those albums you have'nt heard for years and drag it out and just go wow!

I was listening to a best of Johnny Cash yesterday and although it has'nt been years, I listened to it and loved virtually all of it and it's not really my sort of music.

Kid A. Im not sure if it really counts as I still rarely ever listen to it but I was devestated the day it came out when I went out, brought it home and put it on and despised everything about it. Then I saw them live and everything off Kid A was mindblowing. Changed my opinion of it after seeing it live.

For me I had my iPod on shuffle one day and 'There is a Light That Never Goes Out' came on and I was in awe and as soon as it was over i put on The Queen is Dead.

Same thing happened to me with Slayer's Reign in Blood. I listened to if a few times in a few days, and I only liked it a bit. I just listened to it a few days ago several moths after that, and now I love it.

Most of Nick Cave's earlier solo stuff like Tender Prey & Your Funeral My Trial. Bought them about 7 or 8 years ago. It's only really the past year & a half I've really gotten into them.
Tender Prey is my favourite Cave album now.

I tried listening to The Smiths like a year and a half ago and they just didn't do it for me. They clicked for me like 3 months ago and now I can't get enough of them.

It took me ages to get into Faith No More's Angel Dust. When i bought it i just didnt get it at all, it was just so wierd and complex. But now when i listen to it i think it sounRAB amazing, it's def my favourite FNM album.

It happened yesterday with me actually. I started listening to Crystal Kay's most recent album Colour Change and was amazed by it..... I had no clue why I didn't like it much before

I'm a silly girl
