Isn't this boy very brave to go through this ordeal?

No. Of course, I'm glad to hear he survived, but I don't see how you can say it's brave to be the victim of an accident. Bravery is consciously putting yourself in harms way, like rescue services.

Brave as an adjective has been used indiscriminately and so you are confused.
Adults bestow the word brave to heroic acts, whereas adults apply the word to children to praise them for stoicism and ENDURANCE OF SUFFERING

kid get a blood test and endures the procedure
Mother: "son you are very brave"

This boy endured. It was very deserving of praise.

The words brave, hero and racist are three words that are bandied about too easily. It was brave men who fight in wars. It is heroes that put their lives at risk to save others and it is not racist to have concerns about immigration etc.
