Isn't the "If you are wrong" defense of alarmism a dodge?

I could recommend we panic society into requiring that all people carry guns all the time, just in case we're faced with a criminal. If you disagreed with me, I could respond with the "well, if you are wrong, you will have no defense against the serial killer that could well be out there looking for you."

I could do the same and insist that people all around the world work very hard to create an asteroid interception force, for the "just in case" scenario that a gigantic asteroid could hit the earth and wipe out life as we know it. -- the odds of this happening and being a problem are higher than the odds of global warming being a problem as far as I'm concerned... shouldn't we do this, just in case?

No it is the way to deal with consequences.

Freedom always comes with a price which is to be responsible of our acts. Grow up and face it. Otherwise you are just a child.

How much are you ready to bet that you are right? I feel like making big money.
