Isn't it paradoxal of republicans to desire less regulation and in the same breath...

It's not prevention, it's the inaction and incredible slowness of the President to accept help. A former president would have been blasted for this.

The liberals in their hypocrisy still adore Obama and think he's doing a wonderful job.

That's the real paradox.

Yes. Even former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott agreed that if President Obama had one month before the spill spoke of the need for new regulations on drilling, he admitted he would have condemned it as big government interfering with business. The honest ones can come off their high horse and admit they were wrong about regulation.

So because the government shouldn't control every aspect of your economic life with an agenda that makes no sense to the informed voter, they shouldn't stop an oil spill?

In the case of the oil spill, government inspectors and government regulators did not do their jobs. The government approve the rig and operation before it got started.

If government lackeys do not do their jobs, the size of government does not matter.

There is no paradox. I am a conservative who wants less government and less government interference in business.

We have a huge government in the US. The government has botched the containment efforts and is doing little about clean up. Big government does not work.

If there was less regulation there would be less obstruction to preventing and containing the spill.

BPs run around serving government regulators a bunch of bogus paper, the government ignores actually doing their job, and pressure to get job done leads to engineering problems.

The government needs to get out of the way and we will have better outcomes from drilling in all economic dimensions.

The oil spill IS federal responsibility. I just want the govt to stay out of the areas where it has
no place and work efficiently in the areas it belongs in.
The feds seem to want to devote all their time and trillions of dollars to stuff like the heathcare/porkulus bill and ignore their true responsibility when it comes the the oil spill,

No, it is the limited black and white thinking of the liberal mentality that makes it seem so. Clearly a thinking person would realize that the conservatives want less regulation in areas the federal government has no business, like our personal lives, what we eat and whether we buy health care. We want regulation and enforcement in areas where the federal government has a clear and constitutional mandate to be there.

Unfortunately, the federal government was too busy minding our private affairs and stealing rights to pay attention when Obama gave BP a waiver on certain safety regulations, when federal inspectors failed to do their jobs and when a major leak developed that was in part due to failures at the federal level.

Either you have not been paying attention and your question was based on ignorance, or you are intentionally trying to confuse the issue. Whatever the case, it does not speak well for your political views. Honesty and being well informed are far better tools in dealing with others. But then, were you both honest and well informed you would not be a liberal.
