Okay so you can trade in your clunker for $3,500 if it gets 18 mpg or less per gallon for a voucher for a vehicle that gets 22 mpg. 22mpg is just another clunker. And they'll give you even more if you trade it in for a vehicle that gets 10 mpg more than In a short time, the same people that are getting this deal will trade in that 22 mpg vehicle for another voucher at Taxpayers expense.
It's a nice idea but really does nothing other than give free money to people who make bad choices. Shouldn't we be encouraging people to get cars off the road? Maybe getting people to get rid of that second car? How about getting people to use public transport more and car pool.
Anyways, Why on earth does the government even allow 22mpg vehicles on the road?
