Ischial Tuberosity Pain...sit Bone Pain

hey tracey,
i live in hawaii, ewa beach area on oahu. i am from baltimore maryland and will be moving back there as soon as i feel up to it. i was navy and had to come out, my wife is also navy and she is considering getting out/staying in? were not sure on that yet? basically, i am in a conundrum. i have been hurt for 4 yrs now and finally had IDET surgery on apr 05. but have since felt way worse. i am a rare back pain patient that doesnt have the leg pain/nurabness that i hear about. i am happy i dont, but actually wish i did. why? because no doctors want to operate on me for my DDD/hernaitions.so i had to rely on something like IDET. so far no success, basically, i just have horrible chronic back pain. but so many procedures limit you as a canidate if you dont have the sciatic symptoms. i am so scared to go to a doc to get a fusion or ADR to try to make this better , and god forbid be worse. i am just really struggling with what to do. i still have a few more months to wait and see what comes of the IDET, but if no luck, then what? anyway~where are you from. :angel: bshire

I am from Sedalia, Missouri. I so totally feel for you and your pain and wish you the best. Just keep praying that some Dr will finally be able to help. I know you will think I am crazy when I tell you something to help with the pain but it really works, Pamprin. It helped me more than the prescription stuff I was taking. It has something in it that reduces fluid retention and it sure would help me with my back pain. You might give it a try to see if it would be able to give you some relief. Hope you and your wife get to come home soon so you can get to a good back specialist.

thanks Tracey, pamprin, huh? i will have to look into it...heard of it before,just forgot what it is./ thankyoufor the moral support. back pain is horrilble and tough to deal with. just make sure that you take it easy when you go back and dont over doit? we all have that tendency, for most of us, its how we got here in the first place. bshire :angel:

i have been on this site before, but always for backpain issues. i do want to know if there is anyone out there that has the sit bone pain? about 6 months after my back pain started, i cannot sit , first barely noticable, then a little more until about a year or so later, still constant back pain, and now YEAH...I CAN NO LONGER SIT ON MY BUTT..ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE ANY INFO ABOUT THIS, EXPERIENCE WITH IT. i even had injections at the ischial tuberous area but 0 % relief. so i think it has to do with my back pain. but god, who knows. any help out there i appreciate. :angel: bshire
 
I've had ischial tuberosity sit pain for 5 years now. Mine is diagnosed as "pudendal nerve entrapment". If you google it you'll find out a lot more. It's a very rare condition often misdiagnosed. I hope this info helps some.
 
I had the exact same problem and it was from my back I had very little relief until I finally had my surgery. Good luck! Tracey :angel:
 
bshire has probably recovered from this condition by now, but if he's still around the boarRAB, I'd like to hear about its resolution. Why? Because I have the same thing, have had it for almost four years. I have no back pain, but about a year ago I began experiencing pain in the back of my right knee. I have a history of tendinitis and suspect that both the pain in the ischial tuberosity and behind the knee are another instance of tendinitis, this time in the tendons at each end of the semitendinosus muscle. That is, in the tendons attached to the ischial tuberosity at one end and to the knee at the other. I recently began doing daily hamstring stretching and strengthening exercises and taking a supplement that supports cartilage growth and repair, as well as jogging 20 minutes a day on a mini-trampoline. I also apply ice to the knee and heat to the ischial tuberosity area a couple of times a day. After a couple of weeks, I'm beginning to see some improvement, particularly in the knee. I would have tried prolotherapy, but it's not easy to find a doctor who performs it where I live.

thanks for getting back to me. i just wanted to ask you a couple more qu's.? about the sit bones..i mean specifically that it is the butt bones that hurt..yeah the back still hurts but the actual sit bones are sore and sometimes feel raw, like the muscle over the area has been irritated. but no marks,or sores or even redness. have had this for going on 3 1/2 yrs.now and as back pain persisted, butt pain got worse. you said that you had leg pain also, so did you notice the butt pain go away after the surgery like the leg pain,or did it take more time, etc...anyway, read your other email, and am so happy to hear that your feeling good enough to go back to work. wish i was there, been out of work since aug 02. miss being busy.bshire :cool:
 
thanks, QC.. no i never fell. it started after my back pain. it is not the tail bone that hurts, instead the sit bones. they are the ischial tuberous bones. basically called the sit bones. will check out the SS and i thankyou very much for your concern. god bless,bshire :angel:
 
Hey, my butt pain, leg pain and back pain have been resolved so far from the surgery when I had my first MRI it was only at level L3/4 and I had PT and epidural injections good for about 2 years then when I got real bad with the pain again they did a 2 MRI and a discogram and saw it was L3/4 and L4/5 that was causing the problems, both disc where so far out that they were really putting a lot of pressure on the nerve, so once I got the fusion done at both levels I have been pain free except just healing pain, which is so much better. I really suggest that you see a good specialist who has done a lot with backs. Where are you from? Good luck
