Souces on this subject were hard to find. So I have to offer my opinion and say yes, it is still a common practice. I watched a 60 minutes news report on the subject about 20 years ago. I doult East Indian Culture has changed much in 20 years, but I hope I'm wrong.
My cousin had a girlfriend who left him for a East Indian man. The man took her to his country and burned her. I'm not sure if my cousin ever got over it.
I also had a college professor talk about wife burning in class. She found it hard to believe that this would be happening. She had not seen the 60 minutes report
