is white a color?

cuz i think i heard that in art class before that white is not a color :D

Black and white aren't colors, they are contrasts. If you have no color at all you'll get white and if you put al the colors together, you'll get black. You can call them colors if you like, because they still have an important influence on paintings and in other arts. I wouldn't even say that it is really wrong to call them colors, but on the scientific view black and white are no real colors!

hope, this helped ya! =)

Scientifically Speaking:

White light contains all of the colours.
If you split white light (you can do this with a prism easily) then it refracts and the colours separate.
This is what causes rainbows as when the sunlight shines thought he droplets of rain the same process happens

Black is the absence of colour

Artistically Speaking:

White is not a colour; red, blue and yellow are the primary colours and white can not be made from these where as black can

so there are two answers really

look at this to find out more in depth it is really helpful...
