Is watching tv 2 hours a day too much?

I let my 9 year old son and 5 year old son watch 2 hours of tv a day. Do you think it's too much tv? Someone in my family only lets their kids watch 30 minutes of tv a day and they told me that my kids watch way too much tv. Now I'm starting to think they are right. How much tv should I cut back? How much tv do your kids watch?

Thanks

They are your kids, you raise them however you want. I don't think 2 hours a day is too much.

My daughter is 3 years old, and I'm pretty sure she watches more than 2 hours a day. Since she gave up her naps about a year ago, watching TV is her way of having quiet time or down time. I do monitor what she watches of course.

It depends... If it were up to me, I would let them watch 1 hour max. TV is not really good for kids, but a lot of parents use TV to make parenting easier.
I know when my sister was just few years old, she would get up early, and having nothing to do, she went to wake up my parents. Because they didn't want to get up earlier, they said to her to go and watch TV. Since then, every morning she would get up and watch TV, she was used to it and loved it and she still watches a lot of shows and stuff.

TV is a bad habit. Don't let them watch lot of TV. They should be playing with friends or toys instead, and work on their social and motor skills.

My grand daughters (ages 10 and twins at 12) are still only allowed 1-hour of TV a day. The rest of the time; school, homework, friends, family time and chores.
