Is Unlimited Verizon City ID, Really Unlimited???

Verizon offers the City ID for $1.99 per-month; or Unlimited access for $34.99. But does anyone know if the Unlimited is (Truly) Unlimited? Or is it only Unlimited on the phone that I originally purchased the City ID on? If let's say I switch to a different phone in 6 months; will I be able to re-download City ID and use it free-of-charge? I don't mind buying the Unlimited, just as long as I get to use it on ANY phone; for as long as I have service with Verizon Wireless. And I don't want to buy the per-month option; because my bill is already high enough and even that extra $1.99 would add extra taxes and fees.

Anyone here work for Verizon and know how this Unlimited feature will work? I did notice that when I had to send my first EnV Touch back; that I was able to re-download all of my games and apps for free. But I was only switching from one EnV Touch to another EnV Touch; not switching to a completely different phone.

I have called Verizon a few times and sent an email, but they keep giving me different answers. Some reps say the Unlimited is Unlimited for the life of the customers account; while others say it is (ONLY) Unlimited for the life of that 1 phone.

Good morning, thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless through our website. My name is *****, and it will be my pleasure to validate your concern regarding the $34.99 Unlimited City ID application. You are a valued customer.

Mr. *****, City ID is a Get It Now/Media Center application. This is a feature of the handset. If you purchase the Unlimited usage option, it will be for the life of that handset. There are exceptions of when we will issue credit for the $34.99. I have listed them below.

* If your equipment is defective, and it has to be replaced under our warranty program

* If your equipment is lost, stolen, or damaged

* Equipment upgrades or personal exchanges are not eligible for reimbursement.

Does anyone here actually work for Verizon and know for a fact what is up with the Unlimited City ID option? Because $34.99 for Unlimited use on just 1 handset is not a great price at all.

They will credit it back if you get a warranty replacement of the same phone. You can even credit it back through my Verizon.

If you change phones, it's actually pretty likely that the other phone won't even have it...as it is a rare feature.

Thanks Bossdragon and Nicknrm! I was worried that it would be that way. As much as I don't like Sprint anymore; they used to offer truly Unlimited access to Games and Apps; just as long as that software would work on the new phone. I had games that I had purchased and was able to re-download them for years after that. City ID is a nice piece of software, but it's not worth paying $34.99 for it. Even $1.99 per-month is pretty crazy; seeing as it's not a service that is constantly updating like Wiki-Mobile or IMDB-Mobile. Maybe one day Verizon will offer it for free like they do with some of the other applications.

Thanks again for clearing things up!

By the way; why doesn't Mobile Caller ID work in the same way as Land-Line Caller ID? I never really understood why we can't see the Name, City and Number of the person calling our Cell Phone; just like we can with a Home Phone.
