Is "uncovered" a "real" tradition at Texas A&M University?

My roommate always flips the lid about this. Personally, I think since the student body has incorporated it into the yells for decades, it has, much like the Wrecking Crew and Maroon Out, been inducted into the vast lot of traditions by, well, tradition. Any ideas as to why it wouldn't be a "real" tradition?
