Is Toyota Yaris Sedan a good first car?

I am off to college soon and I need a car. I considered Toyota Yaris because its really cheap. But Is it safe?
 
its a great car and i think is way better to start with a cheap car for the first time to know how it works and for when you see a bmw or a mercedes you know that some day you will have those cars so you put some value on them.
though if you start with a expensive car like them you will not take a lot of value for them so if you see a yaris you will be like wtf.
All the cars are safe with some alcohol responsability

you can never go wrong with a toyota i would rather drive a 1980's toyota then some of the new crap ive seen on the street lately.
