Is this weird parenting?

Okay, so it seems every time I go to the mall with my friends, we see little girls who look anywhere from 7 - 12 with makeup on, cell phones, and they're walking around together. What the heck? My friends and I are in high school with phones, makeup, and walking around together, but it's completely different because of our ages. For some reason this just really bothers me that these kids are acting the way they are. Does this bother anyone else? I mean for crying out loud, those kids should be at Chuck E. Cheese or the McDonald's playground with their parents!

My question is, does this behavior bother you for elementary/middle schoolers? Would you let your 7 to 12 year old daughter wear makeup, walk around the mall with a friend or two, and/or have a phone?

& yes, I posted this question earlier too.

No way. It really bothers me that parents like to let their kids grow up too fast. You're only a kid once. You have the rest of your life to be grown. I wasn't evee ALLOWED makeup until I turned 16.

And yet, what can you do? All my husband and I can do is sit and shake our heads.

When my son grows up he will get a cell phone when he can pay the payments on it. My daughter would have been six now and no way in hell would she be wearing makeup. I get that little girls sometimes play in Mommy's makeup but I'm sure you'll agree it's a lot different now.

no i wouldnt....id let her play around with makeup but not actally to make her look nicer etc as adults do because they just dont need it. my 7 year old wouldnt have a cell phone either and she wouldnt be hanging around a mall unsupervised either...yikes!
