I'm having trouble passing the Indiana (South Bend in particular) driving test... and I need to know if what I experienced was a typical driving test. If it is, I need some serious help as to what I'm supposed to do to pass next time.
The instructor failed me for stopping at after a stop sign, but before the crosswalk because she said "I'm "endangering pedestrians" (even when there are none). I also tried earlier in the test to stop at a stop sign and then move forward to see both ways, but I got penalized regardless.
Another big issue is that I need the instructions step by step. I can't remember the whole glob of information when I'm driving in an unfamiliar place, yet when I asked for the directions exclusive to the area that I was at, I got docked points for "not paying attention".
There was a point I remember quite well at the beginning of the test: I was in a crowded BMV parking lot pulling out of the parking space and I didn't have enough space behind me to back up the car to a 90 degree angle and the pull forward. I pulled out at a 45 degree angle and corrected the turn on my way out of the parking lot. In the process, rolled over a yellow line on a parking space with no car in it and was literally yelled at for not being careful.
I need to know if what I experienced was typical, and if it is, I need someone to tell me what I am doing wrong. I've driven with other adults who say I'm driving quite well... but that must not be the case considering what happened. Any suggestions?
