is this truly a sports car?

Is my 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS really a sports car? It has below average acceleration and not so good handling to go along with it. And arent Corvettes, Vipers, Porsches and such considered sports cars? I dont see how mine even compares to those but is still in the same classification?

What do you classify it as?
 
i agree with e34, definitely a sport car.


corvettes, vipers and porsches are sports cars, but those are high end sports cars, you could have an toyota corolla AE86, that's a lower end sports car. a miata is a sports car even though it doesn't have a lot of power because its rwd and has amazing handling.

but exlipse is just like a celica or civic coupe, a sporty car.
 
Well i'd classify an Eclipse a sporty car. not exactly a sports car. a sports car would most likely be a s2000, 350z. etc. cause those have a larger engine and actually have a great acceleration. A civic si is considered a sporty car. and so are mazdaspeed3's. Vipers, Porsches, Ferrars, Lambos etc. are considered high end sports car to me.

but i would just consider an Eclipse a sporty car.
