Is this true?

I'm going to upgrade to a curve in a couple of weeks and I was talking to a friend and she said that the curve doesn't send picture mail. And I want to know if that's true?

its not picture mail.. u technically set it up as an email and send via carrier.. what i mean by that your email would look like this... [email protected]... as an example.. it still constitutes as a data mail not a picture mail... we were discussing that yesterday.. MMS will be something that sprint is looking into.... i believe the curve for att and tmo does MMS.. dont quote me on that last part tho

it helps when u can clarify why u would believe what u r saying... it does send pic mail.. but not as a picture its an email format... so wording can throw this topic out of wack easily...

My alltel 8330 has MMS as well as option to send via email. Works like a champ. I am not sure about tmo but you will be able to do it one of the two ways at least I am sure.

i think she has tmobile, besides tmobile doesn't have a problem with sending mms messages to other phones.... and the curve does send picture mail to other mms and emails... i send them all the time and i receive them all the time lol.. hope this helps ..

i have a curve with tmobile and i love it i also have wifi and i love it....

It also helps if you find out what carrier they have and which curve they are upgrading to. You assuming that the question was posted in the correct forum, and then assuming that the OP would use sprint(many carriers have the 8330) and describing how sprint handles sending pics can throw the whole topic out of whack. Most carriers do not handle sending pics via BB the way sprint does with picture mail. Alltel's 8330 allows sending pics just like a normal MMS or via email, yet the alltel 8130 is restricted to email only, no MMS option.

If the OP has an 8100 and they are "upgrading" then they won't be getting an 8330 since you can't "upgrade" from a GSM 8100 to a CDMA 8330 without switching carriers.

There are many variables. But it is always best to find out details about Carrier and confirm device model even before you give an answer at all

I'm more than sure that your friend is incorrect. Depending on your carrier, it can send pictures either by mms, sms (picture mail) which gives you a link to view the pic, and either by email with an attachment. It depends on the carrier and what they support.
~via BB (wap.rabroad.com)~

Tmo offers a free service to add to your phone plan with your bb. its called blackberry enabler. this enabler give you the option to send mms without a data plan. but I have only heard t-mobile the only carrier to do this

OK let's try to clarify this a bit for you. To the best of my knowledge the only curve that does NOT send MMS is the Sprint 8330. Its not a device issue, Sprint's Network does not support MMS on Blackberry at this time. With that being said, as earlier described there are work arounds for this issue.

All GSM networks seem to have MMS service for blackberry. Since your profile states you currently have an 8100 I presume you are on a GSM network and you should have MMS if you upgrade to a curve.

As Always...

Happy Berrying!
