Is this true: "Baptism is an ordinance done in water to was away sins". If so, then

why did Messiah die 4 sin? That's 2 questions already, here's another: Does the below spiriture quote support the quote in the heading?

Acts 22:16
And now why tarriest thou? arise, and ((be baptized, and wash away thy sins)), calling on the name of the Lord.

Is there anything in the above quote which indicate Paul was baptized in water?

Does the word baptize or baptism mean water?

"Wash away thy sin calling on the name of the Lord" does that have anything to do with water?

Revelation 1:5
And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and (( washed us from our sins in his own blood))

Hebrews 9:26
For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath ((he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself)).

From the above quote: If our sins or if their sins was washed away in water baptism and that was before Messiah died for them, then why would he die and spill his blood to wash us from our sins?

Baptism is an outward sign of an inward work. It is a public witness of what God has done for you.

If baptism saved we would dunk everyone in the world..

No, A baptism is simply a way to show that you have completely turned your life to Jesus. As you are dunked you are saying that you are leaving your sins behind and you come up a new man. However this is just a symbolic activity that you do AFTER you have given your life to God.

You have it wrong. Baptism is eliminating something known as "original sin" (usually only Catholics believe in that). This is something we got since Adam and Eve ate the fruit they were told not to. The Messiah did not die for just sin, he died so God would forgive all of us. (as opposed to the reputation of Him punishing sinners while they were still alive)

It is the blood of Jesus Christ that cleanses our sins. Don't forget that Jesus put the blood into the water when the soldier pierced His side. Blood AND water poured from His side.

God bless

When you get baptized it is an outward expression of your faith. The only person that can " wash away your sins " is Jesus. When you decide to fallow Christ he takes your sins so you get baptize to symbolically wash your sins and start over fresh. It's like announcing to people I believe in God and he took my sins away. If it was what got rid of your sins and gives you salvation then Jesus would not have been baptized. He was perfect and with out sin.

Baptism is really not a requirement to be saved... but it is a bold manifestation of faith for the whole world to witness that you are ready to follow Jesus Christ. Baptism is usually done by immersing fully the body into water which signifies the death of Christ, and we rise again from the water to signify Jesus' resurrection from the dead. The water doesn't actually wash sin, it is the faith and that faith is manifested by follower-ship. Since Jesus Christ was baptized in same manner by John, so are we his disciples
