Is this true about Verizon's "Droid" phone?

Okay, granted this is going to sound a bit silly. The other day I was shopping around for a new cell phone, my mother was with me. When she asked what type would be the most ideal, I told her about the "Droid" phone by Verizon. And then she advised me not to purchase it. So when I asked her why and she said she's not to keen on these new "touch screen" phones because she is convinced that the government has somehow secretly designed the phone so that they can collect your individual fingerprint when you place your finger on the screen. This way, Big Brother (whatever that is supposed to mean) can watch and track your every move.

Although I don't quite know why she believes this, I have to admit that what she said did made me think twice about getting one. Is this true or not about the Droid? Should I just stick with an older cell phone like she suggested?
